Scholarships

UPN “Veteran” Jatim provides scholarship to selected international students from but not limited to ASEAN countries to pursue undergraduate study in UPN “Veteran” Jatim. The scholarship is a testimony to the university’s current strategic plan by becoming one of the vast-progressing universities in the ASEAN region.

The scholarship was first initiated in 2019 as UPN “Veteran” Jatim welcomed international students from Yemen to study in various study programs at the university. In the early semester of their study, the university prepared the student with an Indonesian Language class to ease their study process in their bilingual classes.  As time progressed, UPN “Veteran” Jatim gradually matured into a global-oriented university in which international classes with full English delivery are now available.

Form of scholarships

The chosen scholarship nominee will receive full financial support to study in the selected International Undergraduate Program taught by competent, global-minded academicians/ professors. Prior to arrival, students are given an intensive Indonesian language class and this class will be continued in the early semester of their study. These classes are provided to prepare the student with an Indonesian Language class to ease their study process in their bilingual classes.

Scholarship Coverage

Eligible candidates can apply for the Scholarship Scheme. Below is the coverage of the scholarship (in Indonesian Rupiahs)

1 Round-trip Ticket AidRp 8.000.000UPNVJT will reimburse your flight tickets. You must provide receipts on your arrival to be eligible for reimbursement. Please keep in mind that 1 Round-trip Ticket Aid covers 1 ticket from your country to Surabaya, Indonesia, and 1 ticket back from Surabaya, Indonesia to your home country (Rp 8.000.000 for 2 round-trip flights). If your one flight ticket costs more than Rp 4.000.000, you must cover the rest with your own expenses. If it costs less, you will not get the remaining allowances.
Settlement AllowanceRp 1.500.000The students will receive this one-time payment 30 days after their arrival.
Program Duration 

For undergraduate programs, students shall complete their studies within 4 years; for master programs, they shall complete their studies within 2 years. The new semester begins in August 2026.

Eligibility

These are the requirements for international students:

  • For the Undergraduate Program: having completed Senior / Vocational / equivalent High School study period, proven by a scan of a diploma or certificate of graduation with excellent academic performance
    For Master’s, having completed Bachelor’s degree/undergraduate study or equivalent.

  • Having a good command of English proficiency with a minimum of 2 years of the issued certificate as shown below:
    TOEFL ITP ≥ 500
    TOEFL iBT ≥ 61
    IELTS ≥ 6
    TOEIC ≥ 575
    Duolingo English Test ≥ 100
    or any English Certificate

  • The applicant must be physically and mentally healthy, proven by a copy of a Health Certificate issued by a local hospital

  • For the Undergraduate Program, the maximum age of the applicant is 22 years old in August 2026
    For Master’s and Doctoral Programs, there is no maximum age limit

  • Having a recommendation letter issued by a Senior / Vocational/equivalent High School teacher, you have graduated from (see template)

  • Provide a signed motivation letter

  • Provide a complete and signed curriculum vitae with a recent photograph 

  • Provide a letter of consent stating that parents or guardians acknowledge the program thoroughly (see template)

  • The applicant does not apply for another long-term scholarship

  • The applicant is willing not to marry or be engaged during the study period

  • Must not color blind for Science and Engineering Study Program
